Creative Cultivators
40 stalls line Chepstow High street for Creative Cultivators
Saturday 19th July saw the second Creative Cultivators art, craft and local food producers market of 2008 and it was the biggest and most ambitious to date.
40 stalls lined Beaufort Square and Chepstow High Street offering a diverse range of products from locally produced food, art, and handmade jewellery, cards, woodcraft, ceramics and much much more. There were also cookery demonstrations from the Head Chef's at St Josephs, The Waterloo Hotel and Bistro in Newport and The Newbridge-on-Usk in Tredunnock.
Visitors and residents turned out in their 1000's, and there were queues at the Transition Chepstow gazebo with people wanting to redeem their Voucher from their Festival Guide for a re-usable Chepstow Bag.
Organiser Jacqui Sullivan from Chepstow Marketing said 'All the hardwork paid off! When you see so many happy, smiling faces in town you know that your event is a success. It helps raise the profile of Chepstow and hopefully visitors were so impressed they will come back and shop in town time and time again'.
James Davies of Crown Hill Nursery, Portskewett said 'Its been a great opportunity to promote our weekly 'Veg Box' delivery service. Regular customers are already delighted with the quality of our products and demand for locally grown vegetables is definitely growing'.
Sheila Harris from Creative Cultivators said 'Many people asked if we could do this every month so we are looking to increase the number of events next summer'
The final Creative Cultivators for 2008 will be held on Saturday 6th December. Most of the stalls have already been booked but if you are interested in taking part you should contact Steve Sullivan at Artists Corner on 01291 627393 (Art/Craft) or Rachel Thomas on 07738 178047 (Local Food Producers)
