Playscheme: Bulwark/Thornwell first?
The summer playscheme run by Chepstow town council will only be advertised in Bulwark schools - in case it is swamped
The summer playscheme run by Chepstow town council will only be advertised in Bulwark schools.
The reason is that there are concerns it could be swamped by children because it likely to be half the price of the other playscheme run by Monmouthshire county council.
The town council scheme is likely to be similar to last year’s Play in the Park based in local parks.
It will run from 9.30am-2.30pm three days a week for five- to seven-year-olds and twice a week for eight- to 14-year-olds.
The daily charge is likely to be £3 for the town council compared with £6 for the county council rival.
The town council is also trying to sort out a potential problem over supplying food for the children in lunch boxes.
The rules say that – unlike schools – playschemes have to keep lunch boxes refrigerated
Town clerk Sandra Bushell said that if more than 60 youngsters turn up for the scheme like last year it could cause problems.
Town councillors agreed that the scheme would only be advertised in Bulwark and Thornwell schools.
