Chepstow Library and Information Centre was purpose built in 1993 and is conveniently situated in the centre of Chepstow next to the Welsh Street car park. All public library services are housed within the ground floor of the building. The Careers Service and Adult Prospects have offices on the first floor. Membership of the library is free and open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Monmouthshire. All you need to do to become a member is fill in a membership form in the library or online and provide proof of your name and address.
The library stocks a wide range of materials for all ages. These include books, videos, DVD's, books on tape and CD, CD-ROMs for loan, music, magazines and newspapers. Free IT provision for adults and children is available.
The library operates a computerised catalogue, which gives access to the book stock of the whole county. An information service is provided from the information desk during library opening hours. Staff are informed and well trained and are happy to help you find the books and information you need.
Other Facilities:-
- Online Databases. Databases such as Encyclopedia Britanica, UK newspapers, The Times Digital Archive and Kompass business information can be searched in the library and from your own PC.
- The Chepstow Collection. Local history information on Chepstow.
- European Public Information Centre. Gives access to a range of publications on Europe.
- Welsh Assembly Linked Library. The library houses a collection of Welsh Assembly documents under the linked library scheme.
- Coach Resource Centre. Materials for people coaching sports - provided by the Sports Development Unit.
- Town Council. Minutes of meetings are available for inspection.
- Facilities. The library provides: photocopier, fax service, free internet access, CD-ROM online catalogue for public use.
- Children's Activities. Weekly Under 5's story time, Monthly Baby Rhyme times, School holidays stories and activities.
