Hoggin The Bridge VIII
Bridgewater Chapter Director Dave Holden reports on this years Hoggin the Bridge event in Chepstow.
Hoggin the Bridge VIII was again a huge success as over 3000 bikes (5-6 thousand people) popped into the boarder town of Chepstow for a look around a bite to eat and to soak up the fun of the event. We had met up at Severn view services for the 22 mile ride to Chepstow via Rogiet and Caldicott. In fact as we arrived the car park 22 miles away was just about empty as it took 1 hour for all the bikes to get out.The weather was very good if a little chilly in the early morning for the many motor cyle riders who had set off very early to arrive at the meeting place by 10am.
The town was decorated with banners and bunting, traders had set up on the streets music was wafting through the air (maybe wafting is a little too gentle a word) and there were bikes and people everywhere. The atmosphere was electric a real carnival feeling had hit town, The roads were lines with local folk who were cheering and clapping and that is all the proof we need to know that we are welcome in theis town. The event has raised well over £14,000 for the chapter to presernt to our chosen worthy causes. I have received lots of calls and e-mails praising the event and the welcome that we were given. the Bucket of sunshine that I bought on ebay from Spain seened to have done the trick.
we all look forward to bigger and better next year.
