The Chepstow Group of Gwent Wildlife Trust was extremely disappointed to have to cancel the January meeting because of the snow. We shall hope to reschedule David Priddis at some time in the future - it had better be in the summer as this is the second time he has been the victim of the weather!
We very much hope that nothing will happen to prevent our next evening talk, which will be held on Thursday 4 February at the Chepstow Leisure Centre at 7.30pm. Our speaker will be Forestry Commission Ranger, Simon Holloway, who will talk to us on the somewhat controversial subject of "The Introduction of Wild Boar to the Forest of Dean". These charismatic, but potentially dangerous, creatures have been causing some concern in the Forest since they appeared there a few years ago; all are welcome to come and hear how they have settled in and what impact they are having in the area.
Admission to the talk is £1.50 for GWT members, £2 non-members. For more details on the work of the Trust, or to see the new programme of events for 2010, please visit the website www.gwentwildlife.org, or telephone the office on 01600 740358.
