Currently showing at the Village Shop is Chrissie Birch’s lovely, colourful and finely worked textile exhibition, which is proving extremely popular. This will run until 16 November, after which, as is the wont of the Village Shop exhibitions, we have a complete change of style and medium.
Llandogo artist Anthony Skates will be exhibiting his paintings, which are in acrylic on canvas and paper. “I have lived in Llandogo for the past 3 years and the majority of my work is now focused upon the local environment and landmarks. The Wye Valley provides an endless source of ever-changing inspiration. The way in which the valley is transformed by the changing seasons has become central to my work and I am now paying particular attention to the forest itself, exploring its structure and light. The major influences on my work are the French painters of the Barbizon school though I find it very hard to elude the influence of the impressionists as well, particularly Pissarro.
This sounds very appealing and interesting; we look forward to seeing this new exhibition, which will run until the end of December.
