Preview The Autumn Season of Book Events at The Drill Hall & Leisure Centre

The Drill Hall, Chepstow
The presenter of Big Cat Diary, Autumnwatch and Springwatch visits Chepstow to tell the story of his life obsessed with animals. From being savaged by a rabid cheetah to being charged by rhinos and elephants and meeting extraordinary people such as San Bushmen and David Attenborough, there are plenty of tales to tell about all kinds of furry, scaly, slimy and feathered creatures.
We expect the event to be very popular so buy your tickets now.

Clarissa Dickson Wright
Thurs 1st October 7.15pm at The Drill Hall, Chepstow
An evening of her inimitable wit and outspoken views as Clarissa Dickson Wright opens her diary and takes us on a journey around Britain with stories and anecdotes from her ever-eventful life. As celebrated cook and champion of the countryside, Clarissa's year includes being propositioned by a burly greyhound courser, meeting the Chairman of the Sandringham branch of the WI, a fishing terrier called Kipper and taking on the Health & Safety officials at a rain-drenched County Show.
Criss-crossing the country she introduces us to long-forgotten traditions and colourful local festivals as she meets up with extraordinary characters and friends old and new.

Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall

The acclaimed chef, smallholder, television presenter, writer, campaigner and all round good egg Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall comes to Chepstow to talk about his new book “River Cottage Everyday.”

Pigsties and Paradise

Local author Liz Pitman presents an illustrated talk based on the diaries of some of English gentry women who travelled around Wales between 1795 and 1860.
A highly entertaining history of the infancy of Welsh tourism.

Acclaimed historian and best-selling author Alison Weir presents a talk on her new book “The Lady in the Tower - The Fall of Anne Boleyn.”
