Chepstow Chamber of Commerce and Tourism and Chepstow Marketing Group have both made representations to Monmouthshire County Council after the news broke that the Council was considering raising parking charges in Chepstow by 10%.
Local businesses feel that to increase charges at this time, when every town in struggling for shoppers, would be suicidal. Usk and Caldicot shoppers pay no parking charges, and this is felt to be unfair competition.

Surviving the Recession means promoting Chepstow as a pleasant destination for shopping and leisure. Forthcoming Events in 2009 include:
Creative Cultivators Markets, featuring Art, Crafts and Local Produce will take place in May, July and November.
Hoggin' the Bridge with Harley Davidson Motorbikes in October
Chepstow Summer carnival
There will be a trial local produce market in Beaufort Square on Friday March 13th, featuring Fabulous Fish. If successful, this will become a twice-weekly event.
