The building, in the High Street, is owned by a property company registered in Ulster.
It is understood that the Chepstow Store was one of the most profitable Woolworths Outlets, and , as such, should be attractive to other store groups.
The Mayor agreed to seek funding from the Town Council to produce a brochure, detailing the advantages of trading in Chepstow to prospective companies.
Chepstow's Plus Points include:
Strategic position close to Bristol, Newport and Cardiff, with excellent motorway access.
Monmouthshire's population among the wealthiest in Wales.
Excellent Schools
1000 car Park Spaces.
130 Shops and Stores
Over 30 Bars, cafes and Restaurants
Recently revamped Town Centre.
Street Markets and other events held regularly and well attended.
Chepstow will seek further help and support from the Welsh Assembly Government to resolve the future of this important site.
The making of a DVD to illustrate activities such as the Continental Street Market and Hoggin' the Bridge by Harley Davidson Bikers is another project under consideration.
