Monmouthshire County Council has been advised that a section of cliff at Blackrock has become unstable. They are aware that this section of coastline is subject to erosion and plans are in hand to permanently move the coast path at this point away from the cliff edge. They will also take the opportunity presented by this move to improve the surface of the path. In the meantime, they have closed the section of path nearest to the edge of the cliff and are diverting walkers to a slightly more inland route. They are also warning people who access the beach area from here that they should keep well away from the cliffs (as is advisable in any coastal area round Britain).
The recent improvements to the bridleway from Blackrock to Sudbrook as part of the Wales Coastal Access Improvement Programme are well inland and are not affected by this issue.
